- I don't have a problem with RPI modems as long as the purchaser is told
- in advance what they are getting and what they will need to make it work.
- Many RPI modems were sold as 'error correcting modem with RPI,' never
- explaining what the RPI stood for. Manufacturers throw in these terms
- like 'ADSL' and 'improved escape sequence' without explaining them - the
- user is left with the expectation that these are added features, not
- limitations, and in most cases they are.

- You can only put so much on the box, and 'buyer beware' is always in
- effect... but when a feature is really in many cases a limiting factor
- that should be explained on the box. It should warn you that RPI means
- you have error correction and compression only with appropriate software
- or drivers.
